What would your rear facing extra plate be?

Whoa, didn’t even notice the 2 plates thing. But platform-mates share parts, especially body panels. Like the first gen Durango and that gen Dakota, pretty much the entire front clip is the same. Doors too probably. Or like the Cobalt/G6.

*G5 the G6 shared a platform with the malibu/aurora.

But the CarFax still traces to a Fusion. Wow.

Yeah. Exact same car. Almost all parts should bolt off on either one. Could it be a Fusion and they just got a Milan bumper and tails? Or did it have the Milan front bumper/grille?

So by the transitive properties of platform sharing, this means I could put a trunk from a first-gen MKZ on my Mazda6 if I wanted to, right? (Note: I don’t want to. Though I’d love an MKZ interior, especially the A/C seats).

G5 didn’t just share a platform, it IS a Cobalt, lol. Literally only piece different was the grille and badges, didn’t even bother giving it red gauges.

Not always, I find it’s more of an American or European thing (specifically VW), where they have near-identical cars with different branding, and panels are identical. Japanese does platform-mates much more seriously in the domestic market, almost always unique panels.

Can confirm- I could realistically swap over everything from a B5 RS4 into a B5 Passat. (albeit the D pillar would be off, but even that might be able to be swapped)
